Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical duties including obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and assisting providers with medical procedures
• Administer medications via oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, or intramuscular routes
• Conduct fingerstick blood glucose checks, EKGs, and CLIA-waived in-house lab tests
• Process lab specimens and administer vaccines or PPD skin tests
• Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling patients across multiple campuses and updating EMR records
• Maintain clinical areas by cleaning, restocking supplies, and monitoring inventory expiration dates
• Provide front desk support, including patient check-in, cashier duties, and resolving patient concerns

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Medical Assistant Certification
• Phlebotomy Technician Certification or licensure obtained within six months of start date
• 2 years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting
• Current BLS/AED certification for professional rescuers and healthcare providers
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medical office practices
• Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in medical billing and insurance claims
• Solid computer skills and experience with medical billing systems
• Knowledge of State and Federal confidentiality regulations
• Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
