Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Fulfill patient care responsibilities including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and accompanying patients to exam rooms
• Assist patients with walking transfers, dressing, and collecting specimens
• Collect patient history and perform screenings per provider guidelines
• Assist physicians and nurses with various clinical procedures and charting
• Perform clerical duties such as managing medical records, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance
• Maintain clinical environments by setting up instruments, cleaning exam rooms, and restocking supplies
• Execute clinical tasks including vital signs, injections, minor surgery assists, and laboratory procedures like venipuncture

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in a medical office or facility
• Phlebotomy training and potential licensure/experience as required by practice

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EPIC electronic health records
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience with computerized appointment scheduling
• Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal communication and organizational skills
