Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care duties including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and accompanying patients to exam rooms
• Collect patient history, perform screenings, and assist physicians or nurses with various clinical procedures
• Execute clinical tasks such as checking vital signs, administering injections, and performing venipunctures or capillary punctures
• Manage clerical responsibilities including medical record management, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance coverage
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by setting up instruments, cleaning exam rooms, and managing biohazard waste
• Handle laboratory procedures including specimen collection, handling, and CLIA-waived testing in accordance with OSHA guidelines

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a certified program for Medical Assistants
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Phlebotomy training
• Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a medical office or facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Dermatology, Urology, and/or ENT
• Proficiency with EPIC, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
• Experience with computerized appointment scheduling
• Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to handle sensitive patient contacts with discretion
