Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care services including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and accompanying patients to exam rooms
• Collect patient history, perform screenings, and assist providers with various clinical procedures
• Perform clinical tasks such as checking vital signs, administering injections, and conducting laboratory procedures (venipunctures, capillary punctures, and CLIA-waived testing)
• Manage clerical duties including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and updating patient medical records
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by setting up instruments, cleaning exam rooms, and managing biohazard waste disposal
• Assist with minor surgical procedures, including tray set-up, applying dressings, and suture removal

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in a medical office or facility
• Phlebotomy training (license/experience may be required by specific practice)
• Ability to travel locally to various outpatient facilities in the South Region (including Chicago, Flossmoor, Calumet City, and Tinley Park)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EPIC and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Experience with computerized appointment scheduling
• Strong communication skills and ability to handle sensitive patient interactions with discretion
• Ability to thrive and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment
• Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting of supplies
