Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care duties including checking vitals, collecting patient history, and assisting with examinations or procedures
• Assist physicians and nurses with minor surgical procedures, including tray set-up, dressing application, and suture removal
• Conduct clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, injections, and CLIA-waived testing
• Manage clerical tasks including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, updating patient charts, and managing medical records
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by sterilizing instruments, setting up exam rooms, and managing biohazard waste
• Coordinate patient flow and communicate instructions to patients and their families

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Phlebotomy training
• Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a medical office or facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Experience with computerized appointment scheduling
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
• Strong verbal communication and organizational skills
