Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician
• Obtain and record patient vital signs
• Perform phlebotomy services and assist with specimen collection, labeling, and logging
• Conduct diagnostic tests such as pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and hemocults
• Document all aspects of patient care and family education in compliance with hospital policies
• Support the clinical team in providing high-quality care within the Neurosciences Clinic

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited body
• Completion of a certified/registered medical assistant program recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training
• Proven phlebotomy experience
• Experience working in a community health setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and electronic health record systems like EPIC or OASIS
• Experience with computerized appointment scheduling
• Strong verbal communication skills and ability to handle sensitive patient contacts with discretion
• Ability to maintain organization and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting of medical supplies
