About the role
Responsibilities
- Support providers and nursing staff by rooming patients, collecting vital signs, and documenting clinical interactions in the EMR.
- Perform laboratory functions including phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, and CLIA-waived testing.
- Conduct routine quality control testing, troubleshoot analyzers, and document test results.
- Manage laboratory supplies, clean and sterilize instruments, and maintain laboratory surfaces per protocol.
- Coordinate patient care through phone calls, appointment changes, and providing patient education materials.
- Assist with referrals by obtaining clinician information, verifying insurance, and coordinating appointments with specialists.
- Manage medical waste disposal and assist managers with special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and typing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Experience as a Medical Office Assistant.
- Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR/EMR).
- Certification as a Phlebotomist, Certified Nurse’s Aide, or EMT.
