Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support providers and nursing staff by rooming patients and collecting vital signs.
• Document clinical interactions and patient health status in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Perform laboratory functions including phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing.
• Conduct CLIA-waived laboratory testing and perform routine quality control.
• Assist providers with clinical procedures and maintain sterile instruments.
• Manage medical waste disposal and clean laboratory surfaces according to protocol.
• Coordinate patient care, including appointment changes, referrals to community resources, and insurance verification.
• Maintain laboratory supplies and communicate with reference laboratories.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and typing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification.
• Phlebotomy experience.
• Experience working as a Medical Office Assistant.
• Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR/EMR).
• Certification as a Phlebotomist, Certified Nurse’s Aide, or EMT.
