Medical Assistant, Primary Care

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care duties including checking vital signs, collecting patient history, and assisting with physical examinations.
• Assist physicians and nurses with clinical procedures, including minor surgery setup, dressing application, and suture removal.
• Execute clinical tasks such as administering injections, performing capillary punctures, venipunctures, and CLIA-waived testing.
• Manage clerical tasks including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, updating patient charts, and managing medical records.
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by setting up instruments, cleaning exam rooms, and restocking supplies according to infection control protocols.
• Handle specimen collection and processing in accordance with OSHA and laboratory guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Phlebotomy training (license/experience may be required based on practice needs).
• Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a medical office or facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with EPIC, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
• Experience with computerized appointment scheduling.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive patient interactions with discretion and tact.
• Ability to thrive and maintain organization in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Physical ability to perform lifting, stocking, and transporting of medical supplies and instruments.
