Medical Assistant, Primary Care

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care duties including checking vital signs, collecting patient history, and assisting with examinations or procedures.
• Execute clinical tasks such as administering injections, performing venipunctures, and conducting CLIA-waived testing.
• Manage clerical responsibilities including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and updating patient medical records.
• Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by setting up instruments, cleaning exam rooms, and restocking supplies.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA guidelines, and medical/surgical asepsis protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Phlebotomy training (license/experience may be required based on practice needs).
• Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a medical office or facility.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) designation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with EPIC, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
• Experience with computerized appointment scheduling.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive patient interactions with discretion.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Physical ability to perform lifting, stocking, and transporting of medical supplies.
