About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties within the scope of practice, including operating diagnostic equipment, performing EKGs, and collecting blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary methods.
- Assist physicians and nursing personnel with medical procedures, wound care, and specimen collection.
- Room patients, prepare them for examinations, and record accurate patient care documentation in medical records.
- Organize, stock, and clean exam and treatment rooms, and ensure medical equipment is sterilized using an autoclave.
- Provide quality customer service and maintain patient confidentiality and infection control precautions.
- Conduct telephone and in-person screenings for patient intake and information gathering.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification (or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment).
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proven basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to pass Tuberculosis screening and provide proof of immunity to required vaccinations.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Bilingual skills.
