About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties within the scope of practice, including operating diagnostic equipment, performing EKGs, and collecting blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary methods.
- Assist with wound care, such as removing staples, changing dressings, and obtaining cultures.
- Room patients, prepare them for examinations, and record accurate patient care documentation in the medical record.
- Organize, stock, and clean exam and treatment rooms, and sterilize medical equipment using an autoclave.
- Conduct telephone and in-person screenings for patient intake and information gathering.
- Maintain a safe clinical environment by following standard infection control precautions and quality control checks on equipment.
- Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians and adhere to company policies and privacy standards.
Requirements
- Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification (or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment).
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (required at time of hire or within 30 days).
- Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and EMR systems.
- Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass Tuberculosis screening and provide proof of immunity to required vaccinations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis).
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Proven knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
