Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms by cleaning and stocking appropriate supplies
• Escort patients to exam rooms and record vital signs, medications, and reasons for visit
• Assist physicians with procedures such as suture removal, wart/mole removal, and minor surgeries
• Prepare and package specimens for outside lab analysis and track results
• Schedule diagnostic tests and facilitate referrals to other physicians
• Coordinate with hospitals, pharmacies, and nursing homes regarding lab results and prescriptions
• Pre-certify medications and referrals with insurance providers
• Manage manual inventory of drugs and office supplies
• Maintain disinfection of exam rooms and lab areas

Requirements

• Licensed medical assistant or current nursing student
• Ability to take patient vitals and perform injection/immunization procedures
• Proficiency in charting, documentation, and sterile techniques
• Strong oral and written communication skills for patient rapport and documentation
• Ability to handle patient confidentiality and work effectively in a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in a dermatology medical office
• Experience utilizing Modernizing Medicine / EMA Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
