About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms by cleaning and stocking appropriate supplies and procedure trays
- Escort patients, check vital signs, and record reasons for visits and current medications
- Assist physicians with procedures such as suture removal, wart/mole removal, and minor surgeries
- Prepare and package specimens for lab analysis and track results
- Schedule diagnostic tests and facilitate referrals to other physicians
- Coordinate with hospitals, pharmacies, and nursing homes regarding lab results and prescriptions
- Pre-certify medications and referrals with insurance providers
- Manage manual inventory of drugs and office supplies
- Maintain disinfection of exam rooms and lab areas
Requirements
- Licensed medical assistant or nursing degree
- Experience in taking patient vitals, injections, and sterile techniques
- Proficiency in charting, documentation, and infectious waste handling
- Strong oral and written communication skills for patient rapport and documentation
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and work effectively in a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience in a dermatology medical office
- Experience with Modernizing Medicine / EMA Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
