About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms by cleaning and stocking appropriate supplies
- Escort patients, check vital signs, and record reasons for visits
- Assist physicians with procedures such as suture removal and minor surgeries
- Prepare and package specimens for lab analysis
- Schedule diagnostic tests and facilitate physician referrals
- Coordinate with pharmacies, hospitals, and nursing homes regarding patient care
- Pre-certify medications and referrals with insurance providers
- Manage manual inventory of drugs and office supplies
- Maintain patient confidentiality and safety standards
Requirements
- Ability to take patient vitals and perform injection/immunization procedures
- Proficiency in charting, documentation, and sterile techniques
- Strong oral and written communication skills for patient and provider interaction
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of age-appropriate patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of dermatology medical office experience
- Experience with Modernizing Medicine / EMA Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Dermatology Medical Assistant experience
