Medical Assistant, Neurology

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care services including checking vitals, collecting patient history, and assisting with examinations or procedures.
• Execute clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, administering injections, and performing CLIA-waived testing.
• Manage clerical duties including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, updating patient charts, and managing medical records.
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by setting up instruments, cleaning exam rooms, and restocking supplies according to infection control protocols.
• Assist physicians and nurses with minor surgical procedures, including tray set-up and post-surgical care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Phlebotomy training.
• Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a medical office or facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with neurology or a related medical specialty.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Experience with computerized appointment scheduling.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive patient interactions with discretion and tact.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
