Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support initial medical screening, including collection and recording of health history and vital signs
• Perform routine on-site laboratory and point-of-care testing such as urinalysis, blood glucose, and infectious disease screening
• Support preventive care activities, including immunization workflows and patient education
• Document care, screening, and testing activities accurately in electronic health records
• Protect patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and facility privacy requirements
• Respond to health-related emergencies, including CPR and first aid
• Provide culturally competent and trauma-informed care to a diverse patient population

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to maintain poise and self-control in stressful environments
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds and assisting patients
• U.S. citizenship and five-year U.S. residency
• Ability to pass a medical examination and background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or NRCMA)
• Experience in detention, correctional, or residential healthcare settings
• Proficiency in Spanish
