Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support initial medical screening, including collecting health history and recording vital signs.
• Perform routine point-of-care testing such as urinalysis, blood glucose monitoring, and infectious disease screening.
• Assist with preventive care activities, including immunization workflows and patient education.
• Document all care, screening, and testing activities accurately within the electronic health record.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and facility privacy requirements.
• Respond to health-related emergencies, including performing CPR and using an AED.
• Provide culturally competent and trauma-informed care to a diverse patient population.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• U.S. citizenship and a minimum of 5 years of U.S. residency.
• Ability to pass a medical examination and a thorough background investigation.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or NRCMA).
• Experience in a detention, correctional, or residential healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in Spanish.
