Medical Assistant I

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered medical services and education in support of the mission.
• Maintain accurate patient records and enter information into electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Perform front-office duties including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and assisting with check-in and insurance verification.
• Manage financial transactions, including collecting fees and recording billing information.
• Perform back-office clinical duties such as obtaining vital signs, conducting basic diagnostic testing (finger pokes, urinalysis, rapid HIV tests), and performing blood draws.
• Assist clinicians during exams and procedures, and administer injections as directed.
• Provide unbiased, factual patient education regarding pregnancy management, birth control, and STIs.
• Integrate equity and inclusion best practices into all patient interactions and job functions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience working in a healthcare environment (reproductive health experience preferred).
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical record documentation.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding.
• COVID-19 vaccination required.
• Ability to communicate effectively across differences and a commitment to advancing racial equity.
