Medical Assistant I

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability
• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms
• Prepare patients for examination by measuring vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, weight, height)
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and department-specific tests
• Update electronic medical records (EMR) with accurate demographic, medication, and allergy information
• Keep patients informed of visit status and potential delays
• Reconcile medications and manage pending refills
• Order and perform waived point of care testing (e.g., strep, urine, glucose)

Requirements

• High School diploma, equivalency certificate, or Medical Assistant Certification
• 1+ years of experience in a clinical or customer service setting (or equivalent degree)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical assisting
• Graduate of a medical assistant certification program
• Experience working with EPIC EMR software
