Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care by escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for examinations or procedures
• Obtain and record vital signs, medical and social history, height, weight, allergy information, and medication reconciliation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Assist providers by ensuring appropriate preparation, examination, and diagnostic testing occur without delay
• Process patient referrals and manage electronic medical record (EMR) charts accurately and timely
• Place orders for labs, films, and other studies as appropriate
• Manage administrative tasks including answering phones, returning calls, faxing insurance information, and collaborating with patient scheduling
• Maintain clinical environments by cleaning and stocking exam rooms and assisting with medical supply inventory

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a Medical Assistant course (if hired after March 1, 2025)
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients and staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification
• Previous experience working in a healthcare environment
