Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care by escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for examinations or procedures.
• Obtain and record vital signs, medical and social history, height, weight, allergy information, and medication reconciliation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Assist providers by ensuring appropriate preparation, examination, and diagnostic testing occur without delay.
• Manage patient documentation, including preparing EMR charts, processing referrals, and placing orders for labs and studies.
• Handle administrative tasks such as answering phones, returning calls, faxing information to insurance companies, and collaborating with patient scheduling.
• Maintain clinical environments by cleaning and stocking exam rooms and assisting with medical and office supply inventory.
• Respond to patient pharmacy requests in collaboration with providers and answer patient questions in a timely manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant course (required for hires after March 1, 2025).
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively using medical terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification.
• Previous experience working in a healthcare environment.
