Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and obtain pertinent medical information for visits
• Perform preliminary physical tests including blood pressure, weight, and temperature
• Record patient information, vital statistics, and test results in electronic health records
• Escort and prepare patients for physician examinations
• Perform venipunctures, collect laboratory specimens, and prepare them for testing
• Maintain examination rooms, medical supplies, and storage areas
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, and physicians' instructions to patients
• Schedule appointments and perform general office duties as needed
• Operate EKG and other diagnostic equipment and perform routine laboratory tests
• Maintain a safe, healthy work environment following legal and organizational standards

Requirements

• High school diploma and graduate from an accredited medical assistance program
• Current AHA-approved BLS certification
• Computer literacy and experience with electronic health records
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Motor coordination and manual dexterity
• Adaptability to changing work schedules and patient needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered or Certified Medical Assistant credential
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
