Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and update medication and allergy lists in the EMR
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations, including cleaning and stocking supplies
• Assist providers with physical examinations and clinical procedures
• Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms
• Manage phone calls, identify patient concerns, and direct calls per practice guidelines
• Schedule patient appointments and process referrals
• Inventory and order medical supplies, ensuring proper labeling and removal of outdated materials
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization
• Use clinical software (such as Cerner) for documentation and initiating tests or orders

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program (preferred) or equivalent healthcare experience (EMT, LNA, Military Medic, etc.)
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED certification
• Ability to lift, carry, or push/pull up to 20 pounds
• Proficiency in fine motor skills and repetitive motion
• Ability to work in an environment with exposure to blood-borne pathogens and bodily fluids

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1 year of healthcare experience for non-accredited program graduates
• Experience using Cerner or similar electronic medical record software
