Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and update medication and allergy lists in the EMR
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations, including cleaning and stocking supplies
• Assist providers with physical examinations and clinical procedures
• Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms
• Manage phone calls, schedule appointments, and process referrals per practice guidelines
• Inventory and order medical supplies, ensuring proper labeling and removal of outdated materials
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization
• Use software such as Cerner for documentation, responding to requests, and initiating orders

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program (preferred) or equivalent healthcare experience (EMT, LNA, Military Medics, etc.)
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED certification
• Ability to lift, carry, or push/pull up to 20 pounds
• Ability to perform fine motor tasks and repetitive motions

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1 year of healthcare experience for non-accredited program graduates
• Experience using Cerner or similar EMR software
