About the role
Responsibilities
- Clean wounds before treatment is administered
- Perform standard medical laboratory tests, including urinalysis
- Obtain patient health status and medical history
- Schedule and refer patients to appointments
- Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies
- Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies
- Maintain patient files, records, and insurance forms
- Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies
- Process patient care orders using electronic systems
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program, current enrollment in a healthcare professional program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (1-3 years)
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows and patient care
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- Experience working within a large, complex healthcare setting
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to walk long distances throughout the hospital daily
