About the role

Responsibilities

  • Clean wounds before treatment is administered
  • Perform standard medical laboratory tests, including urinalysis
  • Obtain patient health status and medical history
  • Schedule and refer patients to appointments
  • Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies
  • Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies
  • Maintain patient files, records, and insurance forms
  • Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies
  • Process patient care orders using electronic systems

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program, current enrollment in a healthcare professional program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (1-3 years)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows and patient care
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • Experience working within a large, complex healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to walk long distances throughout the hospital daily
