About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms by cleaning and stocking appropriate supplies
- Escort patients, check vital signs, and record reasons for visits
- Assist physicians with procedures such as suture removal, wart/mole removal, and minor surgeries
- Prepare and package specimens for lab analysis and track results
- Schedule diagnostic tests and facilitate referrals to other physicians
- Coordinate with hospitals, pharmacies, and nursing homes regarding patient care and prescriptions
- Pre-certify medications and referrals with insurance providers
- Manage manual inventory of drugs and office supplies
- Maintain disinfection of exam rooms and lab areas
Requirements
- Ability to take patient vitals and perform injection/immunization procedures
- Proficiency in charting, documentation, and sterile techniques
- Strong oral and written communication skills for patient and provider interaction
- Demonstrated ability to handle patient confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Knowledge of care appropriate to various patient ages
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dermatology medical office
- Experience using Modernizing Medicine/EMA Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
