About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement media plans to enhance company reputation and contribute to business outcomes
- Interface regularly with journalists, editors, and various media outlets
- Prepare briefing documents, press disclosures, media advisories, and other essential communication materials
- Coordinate and manage media events, including press conferences, interviews, and media tours
- Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports to senior management
- Respond to media inquiries and serve as a company spokesperson when necessary
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels
- Stay current with energy industry trends and best practices in media relations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in media relations or a related role
- At least 5 years of experience in government or working with a trade group on industry issues
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with proficiency in AP style
- Strong interpersonal skills and an extensive professional network within media circles
- Ability to interpret technical subjects and convey them accessibly to diverse audiences
- Proven track record of managing complex, high-stakes issues for a major company
