Media Compliance Counsel

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and regulatory research on marketing regulations, solicitation rules, and cross-border promotional requirements.
• Interpret how regulatory frameworks apply to Deriv's content and products across multiple global jurisdictions.
• Assess when marketing content triggers regulated activity requirements and determine the boundaries between general marketing and financial promotion.
• Provide legal guidance on cross-border marketing campaigns, advising on compliance variations between jurisdictions.
• Review marketing materials where legal interpretation is required to resolve ambiguity in regulatory frameworks.
• Advise on licensing and solicitation rules to ensure promotional activities do not trigger unintended conduct of business obligations.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on Deriv's promotional activities.
• Partner with marketing and legal teams to bridge commercial objectives with regulatory requirements.
• Leverage AI tools to support compliance reviews while providing high-level legal judgment and strategic guidance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in legal or compliance, specifically focusing on regulatory research, marketing compliance, or financial promotions.
• A Law degree or extensive, equivalent legal-compliance experience.
• Proven ability to conduct deep regulatory legal research into legislation and regulatory guidance.
• Strong knowledge of financial services marketing regulations and conduct of business rules.
• Experience navigating the complexities of cross-border marketing and multi-jurisdictional compliance.
• Ability to make sound judgment calls on ambiguous legal questions where frameworks are not clearly defined.
• Strong English communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal interpretations to non-legal stakeholders.
• A commercially pragmatic mindset that helps achieve business goals within legal boundaries.
