About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop age-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, and special projects that fuse media arts with academic competencies.
- Facilitate project-based learning units to help students develop artistic, educational, and leadership potential.
- Engage K-12 youth in critical thinking, hands-on projects, and community-building through creative disciplines.
- Coordinate subject-related trips, guest speakers, special events, and student exhibitions.
- Communicate student progress and insights to team members on a regular basis.
- Act as a positive role model for all students within the after-school programs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (degree preferred).
- 1+ years of teaching or youth development experience.
- Proven ability to develop lesson plans and implement project-based learning.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Expertise in a media arts discipline such as Podcast Production, Creative Writing, Videography, Photography, or Graphic Design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Conservatory training or university-level education in a relevant content area.
- Experience working with diverse populations and knowledge of African, African-American, and Latino history/issues.
- Current college students pursuing degree-level work in a relevant field.
