Mechanisms - Payload Internship - Fall 2026

Responsibilities

• Own or contribute to hardware or software design to support the development of spacecraft or payloads
• Create or support test campaigns and build test stands
• Perform necessary analysis to support development and testing
• Work on projects such as flight mechanisms, microgravity manufacturing payloads, or custom test equipment

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program (Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar)
• Experience with mechanical CAD (NX preferred)
• Experience designing, building, and/or operating electromechanical hardware (motors, sensors, linkages, gearboxes, etc.)
• Basic programming skills in at least one language (Python preferred)
• Proficiency with common hand tools and an interest in learning machine tools (drill press, lathe, mill, etc.)
• Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship or co-op experience
• Previous experience on technical project teams (e.g., Rocket club, Formula SAE)
