Mechanisms Flight Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and maintain mechanism drive and control representation on the flat sat
• Perform bring-up, functional checkout, and troubleshooting of mechanism drive electronics and control paths
• Develop, execute, and maintain automated and manual procedures for mechanism functional verification
• Create and utilize scripting and test automation tools to improve test repeatability
• Execute flight operations procedures for mechanism deployments and actuation events
• Rehearse and validate commissioning and on-orbit actuation events in the flat sat environment
• Reproduce on-orbit mechanism conditions in the laboratory to support anomaly investigation
• Verify mechanism electrical interfaces against ICDs, schematics, and engineering requirements
• Instrument and monitor mechanism performance using laboratory test equipment
• Capture and analyze telemetry and test data to assess mechanism performance and health
• Support real-time mission operations during deployment and actuation activities
• Maintain configuration control of flat sat hardware, software, and testbed builds
• Collaborate with Mechanisms, Avionics, Software, and Flight Operations teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering
• 3+ years of experience in spacecraft integration and test or mission operations
• Experience with electronics bring-up and mechanism actuation control
• Experience with electrical troubleshooting using laboratory instrumentation
• Experience developing automated test procedures and scripts (Python preferred)
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ICDs
• Experience performing connector verification and harness validation

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience supporting spacecraft mechanisms or flat sat environments
• Experience commanding and monitoring deployment events through telemetry
• Experience with motor drive and actuator control systems (DC, brushless, stepper)
• Experience with spacecraft commissioning and sequence validation
• Experience supporting anomaly investigations and root-cause analysis
