Mechanisms Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze new or evolving mechanism products, including performing system trade-offs with other business areas
• Implement Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure cost-effective and reliable solutions
• Engage in hands-on engineering, including flight build, testing, and spacecraft integration
• Manage multiple tasks and work packages in parallel within a fast-paced environment
• Interface with internal and external customers through technical reviews and presentations
• Author technical documentation such as design reports, procedures, and test reports

Requirements

• MEng or BEng in mechanical, mechatronic, or a similar engineering discipline
• Proven mechanical design experience, specifically with stress-critical components
• Experience implementing precision tolerance analysis, drafting, and selecting materials/manufacturing methods
• Proficiency with CAD and FEA software for design and idealization
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and within a "One Team" environment
• High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering 100% reliability for long-duration space missions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-reliability engineering environment
• Understanding of electronics and software/firmware to assist in testing and debugging
• Knowledge of specific components used in complex space mechanisms
