About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and support mechanical systems and equipment within defined subsystems for process, utility, slurry, solids handling, and plant infrastructure systems
- Develop layouts, general arrangements, piping details, equipment lists, and drawing packages
- Independently select and specify mechanical equipment such as pumps, tanks, valves, and heat exchangers
- Translate process flow diagrams and P&IDs into practical mechanical designs
- Partner with cross-functional teams including process, automation, electrical, and operations engineers
- Lead fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting for pilot and plant equipment
- Create and maintain 3D models and mechanical drawings using CAD
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electromechanical, or related engineering discipline
- 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial process, pilot plant, or manufacturing environments
- Experience translating process requirements into mechanical equipment selections and piping layouts
- Working knowledge of pumps, valves, tanks, piping, and heat transfer equipment
- Proficiency with CAD and engineering documentation tools
- Strong collaboration and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electrochemical, hydrometallurgical, chemical process, or mining environments
- Familiarity with slurry transport, filtration, or solids processing
- Experience with materials selection for corrosive or abrasive service
- Experience supporting design reviews, HAZOP, or commissioning activities
- Experience in a startup or scale-up environment
