Mechanical Systems Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Support the design of mechanical systems, equipment skids, and plant infrastructure under senior guidance
• Develop and revise CAD models, drawings, layouts, and engineering documentation
• Assist with equipment and component selection using design inputs and vendor information
• Support fabrication, assembly, integration, commissioning, and testing activities
• Troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment with appropriate guidance
• Document design decisions, test results, and lessons learned clearly and accurately
• Coordinate with process, automation, electrical, and operations teams to complete work
• Follow engineering standards, templates, and document control requirements
• Work safely and comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• 0–2 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, process equipment, or industrial systems
• Foundational knowledge of fluid systems, heat transfer, and mechanical equipment
• Proficiency with CAD tools for 3D modeling and drawing development
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work hands-on in lab, pilot, or plant environments for equipment builds and testing
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant internship, co-op, or research experience in mechanical design or process systems
• Exposure to engineering documentation such as P&IDs and assembly drawings
• Experience in an R&D, pilot plant, startup, or fast-paced technical environment
• Familiarity with pumps, valves, piping systems, heat exchangers, or material handling equipment
