Mechanical Subject Matter Expert

Responsibilities

• Serve as an onsite technical authority for mechanical infrastructure, including cooling, HVAC, and chilled water plants
• Plan, author, and approve work procedures for mechanical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance
• Conduct hands-on troubleshooting and oversee the maintenance of critical mechanical equipment
• Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight for construction projects and maintenance activities
• Lead root-cause analysis activities to resolve complex mechanical failures
• Provide technical training to Critical Facility Engineers and cross-functional teams
• Manage vendor relationships for mechanical maintenance and retrofit work
• Contribute to mechanical safety programs and provide feedback on global maintenance strategies

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant mechanical industry experience (or a Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of experience)
• Proven experience working in critical environments
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and equipment shop drawings
• Working knowledge of psychrometric charts and refrigeration cycles
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment design, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Experience working in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in equipment field service engineering or as a representative
• Trade Certification or state license in HVAC
• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards
• Experience in the data center industry
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows
