Mechanical Staff Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead or support engineering project teams to deliver robust, cost-effective process machines and automation systems.
• Solve complex mechanical engineering and process equipment problems, including material selection, tolerance analysis, and component specification.
• Define and document machine design specifications, project schedules, and budgets.
• Develop mechanical design concepts and oversee the construction of prototype and production equipment.
• Interface with external machine builders, system integrators, and suppliers to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Participate in system integration, debugging, installation, and production start-up.
• Manage project records, track expenditures, and monitor performance against schedules.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience developing and delivering fully integrated machine or automation systems for manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design practices, flexible automation, robotics, and material handling.
• Proficiency with electro-mechanical drive systems, fluid power, pneumatics, and safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage external machine builders and system integrators.
• High level of technical curiosity and ability to work in a highly matrixed, team-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10-15 years of relevant industry experience.
• Knowledge of glass and ceramic manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency with Solidworks and AutoCAD design software.
