About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of HVAC and building systems
- Apply specialized technical knowledge to maintain safe and efficient facility operations
- Coordinate projects, prioritize tasks, and assign work as needed
- Interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and instructions
- Order materials and collaborate with campus departments and skilled trades staff
- Provide direction, training, and guidance to employees on project sites
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 4 years of experience in a skilled trade, such as HVAC systems
- Ability to perform maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment and building systems
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, diagrams, and technical instructions
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
- Knowledge of safe work practices and maintenance procedures
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting and moving materials
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one by hire date)
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade licenses or certifications related to HVAC (specifically a Master’s license)
- State of Maine Oil Board License
- Experience leading projects or training others
- Experience ordering materials and estimating project costs
- Experience using computerized diagnostic or maintenance systems
- Experience working in schools, commercial buildings, or large facilities
