About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily activities of mechanical components and systems integrity during the commissioning and startup phase
- Perform plant mechanical activities, including initial equipment and pump check-outs, system line flushes, and pre-operational check-outs
- Verify rotating equipment alignments and perform pump initial run-in vibration analysis
- Supervise construction and contractor craft, providing oversight for activities such as oil flushes, hydrolyzing, chemical cleaning, and steam blows
- Develop required procedures related to startup mechanical activities and review engineering system descriptions for functionality
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed and adhere to the Startup Administration Manual
- Coordinate and record equipment initial run data and elevate technical issues to the Mechanical Lead in a timely manner
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in fossil power plant operation, maintenance, startup, or commissioning protocols
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and applicable environmental regulations
- Proficiency with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, operations manuals, and system descriptions
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, engineering teams, and vendors
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required and travel to various project locations
