Mechanical R&D Engineer

Responsibilities

• Implement, verify, and optimize mechanical technologies in hardware development to ensure high-quality gaming experiences for PlayStation
• Collaborate with product development departments to solve technical challenges and apply new mechanical structures and mechanisms
• Utilize CAE tools to improve design quality from structural, reliability, thermal, and vibration perspectives
• Advance the prototyping, performance evaluation, and design improvement cycles within the R&D organization

Requirements

• 3+ years of practical experience in mechanical design using CAD (such as NX)
• Knowledge or practical experience in mass production design and productization processes
• Experience in design optimization using CAE tools (specifically structural and vibration analysis)
• Experience managing the full cycle from design problem analysis to prototyping, evaluation, and improvement
• Ability to understand English specifications and communicate via email in English
• Business-level Japanese proficiency (JLPT N1 or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience in mechanical design for drive systems, housing structures, or cooling mechanisms
• Experience planning and promoting design/manufacturing process improvements or quality enhancement activities
• Experience in design improvement through prototype evaluation, reliability testing, and data analysis
• Experience leading technical consensus and reviews in collaboration with overseas teams or other departments
