Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and component-level testing of mechanical and structural systems and hardware
• Perform calculations and basic analysis of mechanical components and assemblies
• Create component and assembly drawings for all hardware
• Spec and order hardware required to fabricate designs
• Assist mechanics in integrating components and assemblies onto the vehicle
• Test components and assemblies to prepare for integrated ground testing
• Support the design life cycle from concept through integration and test
• Participate in Mission Control Center console and Flight Test responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• 0-2 years of engineering experience
• Knowledge of mechanical design, structural engineering, or thermal analysis
• Experience with metal component design (billet machined components and weldments)
• Experience with aerospace-grade hardware and mechanical design best practices
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, Solidworks, or CATIA
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming experience with Matlab or Python
• Familiarity with configuration management systems like Jira
• Experience with component or subsystem level test planning and execution
