Mechanical Lead Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplined team of mechanical, structural, and manufacturing engineers in the development of Talon-A hypersonic flight vehicle systems.
• Drive structural development, including trade studies, structural layout, and the integration of payloads.
• Make final technical decisions for the structures subsystem and lead successful structural design reviews.
• Manage structural systems engineering, including requirements creation, mass properties management, and configuration management.
• Communicate technical progress and risks regularly to the program Chief Engineer.
• Contribute to the integration of complex aerospace systems and ensure high standards of engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Proven technical leadership experience within an engineering environment.
• Significant experience in the rapid development of prototype or experimental flight vehicles.
• Expertise in structures, loads, structural-thermal analysis, or mechanical systems.
• Experience with composite structures analysis, design, and manufacturing.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as CATIA or Solidworks.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hypersonic, supersonic, or air-launched vehicle development.
• Experience with BMI or epoxy pre-preg composites.
• Experience with static structural testing.
• Proficiency with FEMAP, NX NASTRAN, Python, C++, or Matlab.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
