Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and automation of weight & balance tools
- Own mass properties tracking, prediction, and reporting throughout design, build, and test
- Manage mechanical design guidelines to ensure common design practices across teams
- Manage standard materials, hardware, and design element selections
- Support structural layout and configuration development
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and test teams to resolve system-level tradeoffs
- Support systems integration and packaging efforts, including clash resolution and mounting concepts
- Participate in design reviews, manufacturing support, and testing activities
Requirements
- 2–7 years of experience in aerospace mechanical engineering or aircraft design
- Strong understanding of mass properties and aircraft mechanical design
- Experience building or owning engineering tools for analysis and decision-making
- Proficiency with CAD and PLM software (e.g., NX, CATIA, Creo, Teamcenter)
- Programming experience in Python or MATLAB for analysis and tool automation
- Experience with systems integration, packaging, or aircraft layout
- Exposure to certification, conformance, or government aerospace programs
