About the role

About the Company

OLIX is addressing the massive infrastructure gap in the AI industry. The company is developing the OLIX Decode Accelerator 1 (DX-1), a new paradigm in hardware designed specifically for decode, utilizing rack-scale co-design of logic, data movement, packaging, optics, and interconnect to achieve a step change in system-level performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and designers
  • Oversee the design, development, verification, and validation of mechanical systems, assemblies, and enclosures
  • Provide technical leadership across mechanical design, structural analysis, thermal management, and material selection
  • Drive the application of DFM, DFA, and DFR principles
  • Collaborate with Electronics, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams
  • Manage departmental budgets, engineering tools, and resources
  • Define and implement the mechanical engineering roadmap

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading high-performing mechanical engineering teams in a product development environment
  • Strong background in designing complex mechanical systems and enclosures for high-performance electronic equipment
  • Deep understanding of structural design, thermal management (air and liquid cooled), and materials selection
  • Experience delivering products from concept through production and lifecycle support
  • Proficiency in managing external design partners and contract manufacturers
  • Strong understanding of mechanical development processes, including simulation, testing, and qualification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with simulation-driven design (thermal, structural, vibration, and airflow analysis)
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing ramp-up
  • Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels
