About the role
Responsibilities
- Work with mechanical designers to design, prepare, and configure test fixtures and stations
- Create documentation to record changes and capture fabrication procedures
- Raise awareness of defects and performance issues
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations to management
- Periodically build, modify, and repair test equipment, fixtures, and electro-mechanical assemblies
- Generate product documentation including custom part drawings, assembly drawings, engineering Bill of Materials, and process flows
Requirements
- Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Proficient knowledge of 3D design tools (PROE/Creo preferred)
- Proficient knowledge of 3D printers and maintenance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to mount, repair, and adapt test setups
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with flexibility to refocus as priorities change
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the design of mechanical jigs and fixtures
- Experience using hand-held power tools and operating machine shop equipment (lathe, bandsaw, drill-presses, etc.)
- Experience with programming for microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino) or data processing (Python/MATLAB)
- Experience with pneumatic systems, including regulators, valves, and cylinders
- Working knowledge of electronics, data acquisition systems, and basic circuit design
- Experience with document and version management systems such as Windchill
