Mechanical Engineering Intern

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and fabrication of mechanical components, mechanisms, and electronics housings in CAD
• Perform FEA simulation on design components for structural integrity and stress failure assessment
• Draft 2D drawings for fabrication and assembly
• Assemble and test designed mechanical components in the workshop and in real-world environments
• Sail out to sea for testing and evaluation of completed mechanical designs
• Gather user requirements and iterate on documentation
• Establish and iterate on test procedures for mechanical quality control and regulatory compliance

Requirements

• Proficient in SolidWorks and Autodesk or equivalent engineering CAD design software
• Experience with various manufacturing methods ranging from CNC, welding, sheet metal fabrication, injection moulding, to composites (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members in other sub-teams
• Positive learning mindset with ability to quickly absorb knowledge and apply them to challenges faced
• Comfortable working at sea trials and at a normal office desk
