Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and systems for UAVs including airframes, propulsion, and landing gears
• Build and test UAV prototypes through ground and flight testing
• Conduct stress, strain, and fatigue analysis on UAV structures
• Design and analyze thermal management systems for heat dissipation
• Collaborate with electrical, avionics, and software engineers for system integration
• Evaluate and select lightweight, high-performance materials
• Perform root cause analysis on mechanical system failures
• Develop maintenance and repair procedures for UAV systems
• Ensure designs meet UAS regulations and industry standards
• Engage in R&D for autonomous systems and additive manufacturing
• Create detailed design specifications and testing documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 3-7+ years of engineering experience
• Proficiency in CAD and SolidWorks
• Knowledge of GD&T and drafting
• Experience with DFMA and tooling design
• Experience with FEA and simulation tools
• Knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and aerodynamics
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD specifically for aerospace and UAS applications
• Understanding of 3D printing and advanced composite materials
• Familiarity with aerospace certification processes like DO-160 or AS9100
• Strong project management skills
