Mechanical Engineer - Steam Systems

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and integration of steam systems supporting a steam turbine generator (STG)
• Own steam-cycle mechanical design from heat balance through detailed engineering, including system sizing, piping layouts, and equipment specification
• Perform pipe stress and flexibility analysis, water hammer, and two-phase flow evaluations
• Develop and review P&IDs, PFDs, equipment datasheets, isometrics, and design basis documents
• Specify major components including valves, steam traps, separators, condensers, and feedwater heaters
• Lead technical interface with turbine OEMs regarding steam admission, extraction, and gland systems
• Participate in design reviews, vendor qualification, factory acceptance testing, and commissioning

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or greater
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant hands-on experience
• Demonstrated experience designing steam systems for utility, industrial, marine, or nuclear steam turbine generators
• Proficiency with pipe stress tools such as CAESAR II or AutoPIPE
• Familiarity with 3D plant modeling environments (e.g., SmartPlant, PDMS/E3D, AVEVA, Navisworks)
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, and ASME BPVC codes
• Must be based in the United States and willing to work on-site in Austin, Texas
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person in compliance with 10 CFR Part 810

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or active progress toward licensure
