Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for municipal water treatment, pumping stations, and industrial water applications.
• Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, basis of design reports (BODR), and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
• Perform technical calculations for HVAC (cooling/heating loads, air and hydronic distribution) and Plumbing (domestic water, sanitary, and storm water) systems.
• Coordinate design efforts with other multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and conduct construction site visits to ensure design compliance.
• Mentor Engineers in Training (EIT) to strengthen their technical abilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with an NCEES record ready to obtain licensure in multiple states.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional engineering experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience with HVAC load calculation software such as HAP or Trace.
• Strong understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals, including psychrometrics and heat transfer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing systems specifically for water treatment plants, wastewater plants, or hydroelectric power plants.
• Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements for HVAC systems in wastewater treatment environments.
• Strong client presentation skills.
