About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for municipal water treatment, pumping stations, and industrial water applications.
- Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, basis of design reports (BODR), and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
- Perform technical calculations for HVAC (cooling/heating loads, air and hydronic distribution) and Plumbing (domestic water, sanitary, and storm water) systems.
- Coordinate design efforts with other multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and conduct construction site visits to ensure design compliance.
- Mentor Engineers in Training (EIT) to strengthen their technical abilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with an NCEES record ready to obtain licensure in multiple states.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional engineering experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Experience with HVAC load calculation software such as HAP or Trace.
- Strong understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals, including psychrometrics and heat transfer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing systems specifically for water treatment plants, wastewater plants, or hydroelectric power plants.
- Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements for HVAC systems in wastewater treatment environments.
- Strong client presentation skills.
