Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design the factory and process to deliver high-quality flow control devices and mechanisms for Starship and Super Heavy
• Optimize production flow, accelerate production, and implement targeted automation
• Work with development engineers and vendors to ensure parts are designed for manufacturability
• Maintain work instructions and track defects in a scalable manner
• Support component level testing including proof, leak, fluid flow, and cryogenic checkouts
• Solve production yield investigations and target zero workmanship defects

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in physics or an engineering discipline
• 1+ years of mechanical design or hands-on manufacturing experience
• Ability to travel to vendors and other SpaceX sites as needed
• Availability to work long hours and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership or mentorship experience
• Experience with fluid and electromechanical components (valves, actuators, regulators, motors)
• Knowledge of fluid dynamics, mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, and electrical circuits
• Proficiency in interpreting fluid schematics, engineering drawings, and circuit layouts
• Experience in software development using SQL, Python, or C#
